Having gotten over his emotions, Snowli decided to go out of the house to tell his strange story to his buddy with the carrot nose. Hardly outside, a group of children welcomed him by singing a beautiful song! All these children wanted to learn to ski and to surf on the snow and they all wanted an adventure friend like: Snowli. Mr Long Nose had not moved, however some children of the village swore that they saw him laughing and straightening the nose of his carrot which fell, when he saw Snowli playing with the children.

Snowli was now the best friend of all the small champions of the snow village. He amused everybody, because it was now able to do everything that he wanted to on skis and on snowboard. He moved with ease, he knew how to slide, to slow down, to turn, to jump, and even to invent “fun things”, which had become his speciality!

Waking up from his magnificent dream, he was happy to find himself in a small house in the village of snows. It was nice and warm there. Outside, the snowman had taken his place back, he was still, just like his carrot nose.

Snowli stretched and felt strange. He sat down and noticed that his body had become stronger. By moving the blanket he saw that his legs had become blue and solid; the top of his body had taken a beautiful orange color and looked like that of a penguin; his arms had become yellow and hairy as a bear.

He turned and he saw that he could push off of his bottom like a kangaroo and had a red tail like a snake. He moved towards the mirror that allowed him to see, with delight, that the only thing which had not changed was his head. The attractive white head, soft, with big blue eyes and long ears were always the same and confirmed that he had always been himself.

His body had been transformed , taking the form of animals which he had met in his dream and that had helped him to have so much fun on the snow with skis and a snowboard.

” Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! I don’t know how to jump or fly “, he shouted, frightened. Fortunately, the ground and the soft snow were not far away. To his surprise was didn’t cross anyone but, he saw, with bewilderment, a funny animal standing on two big legs, which stood directly in front of him.

” Hey young one “, he said, ” do you want to learn how to jump”?  ” Oh yes, with pleasure “, answerd Snowli, ” I would even like to learn to fly ! But who are you “?  ” I am the Kangaroo, the king of jumps. I can help you learn how to jump but not to fly. ”

Kangaroo made a series of bumps and springboards. Snowli believed that he could touch the sky with the tip of his hands and sometimes, he jumped so high and far, he really thought that he would never touch the ground again.

Jumping kangaroo gave him so much good advice that Snowli felt like a little kangaroo. What an incredible sensation!

Before saying goodbye to the kangaroo, Snowli decided to make a last jump. His jump was so high that he had the impression to be in the space again, on his way back home.

” No! ” Cried Snowli, ” I want to stay on Earth! I still want to learn more news things! ” Agitated, he woke up.

Snowli stopped next to a big green and white pine tree, blowing like a locomotive, he heard a small strange laughter then a voice which told him : ” why are you doing all these movements instead of turning” ?  Snowli looked on all sides before discovering a small snake spirit on a rock on a branch!

” A, a, a sna… sna… snake! ” Stuttered Snowli, surprised to see this animal not like the others. He was open-mouthed a few moments then, in spite of his dismay, managed to answer the the snake: ” because, I do not know how to turn! ” Don‘t worry, I can teach you all the bends in the world, answered the snake. ” The small snake was a friend, very kind and attentive. He began to explain to Snowli how to turn and to avoid all of the obstacles in the forest. Right turn, left turn, behind:how happy he was!

Snowli and his new friend continued to play this new game of bending and racing; one time on skis, and one time on snowboard!

The snake gave so much new advice that Snowli felt as a little snake. What an incredible sensation!

” A bend here, a bend by there “, Snowli came down the valley singing. He turned by avoiding all the obstacles with no problem at all, he braked to admire mountains, and from time to time he moved to follow the tracks of wild animals. By-passing a tree, he felt, suddenly, light, very light, too light.

Continuing to travel in his dream, Snowli found himself in front of a magnificent meadow in light descent. He began sliding, sliding always faster. He did not stop any more! He was afraid and closed eyes. By chance the speed began to decrease. Then Snowli opened shyly his eyes.

” Wow, ” he said finding himself face to face with a penguin, ” I was afraid! ” The penguin took him by the hand and told him: ” I am going to show you how it is necessary to slide fast on the snow safely. I am also going to show you how to slow down. That is very important. ”

Even if he did not manage to brake or to slide all the time and even if he fell from time to time, Snowli was not mad , because the snow eased his falls. Furthermore, it was easy to get up and continue.

The penguin was also as nice as the bear. He gave him so much advice that Snowli felt as a little penguin. What an incredible sensation!

Suddenly Snowli began to start again to gain speed. At the bottom of the meadow, the slope became even more stiff; but the problem was that he had to avoid the trees which were in his way. ” To slide, to slow down, to move to the left and to the right, to brake and still to move, and to begin again – all this was tiering “, thought Snowli.

Snowli dreamed that he went out of the wooden house. Mr Long Nose had dressed him so well, that he had difficulty walking. He walked with great difficulty to a forest. Hidden behind a tree, he saw a bear making strange some exercises. He moved on funny boards and in spite of his weight, he did not sink into the snow. Very bravely, Snowli approached the bear and asked him what he was doing.

I play with the snow. Sometimes I put on skis and sometimes on a snowboard! I can move, turn, walk forward or backwards! “Do you want to try?”

“Yes, great!” answered Snowli. He tried the skis as well as the snowboard! He had a lot of fun and played with the bear, to escape and hide behind trees!

The bear was nice. He gave him so much advice that Snowli felt as a little bear. What an incredible sensation !

It was so pleasant to sleep after such a long journey, having discovered all these incredible things of the Earth. Everything was new in the eyes of our small hero.

What was even more beautiful, was being able to sleep safely, in a magnificent place where it was possible to learn many of the new interesting things and to dream , and dream …

The village of snow was so big that it was difficult to discern the limits. Every time there was wind, big trees watered the garden with new snow as if they were enormous brushes.

Throughout the day Snowli and Mr Long Nose played and chased each other and dove into the snow. Snowli was very happy: he had discovered Earth, the very special village, and friend who would teach him new things and, besides, he had discovered the snow, fascinating, white, supple but also …

“My small legs are quite cold!” Says Snowli very surprised. Without losing a moment, Mr Long Nose took him in a small wooden house. He offered him a delicious hot drink and biscuits. Then he lit a fire in the fireplace, and rolled up in an enormous scarf. The scarf was so big that he couldn`t see the big blue eyes of Snowli. He put his feet in some woolen socks and snow boots, put on a pair of gloves, big glasses and a hat.

Because of the heat of the room, Mr Long Nose had to abandon as quickly as possible the house because he was melting slowly! Snowli, tired and wrapped up, fell asleep next to the fireplace. He sank into a profound sleep. So deep that the snowman did not let him to go out anymore during several days.

“These” very special machines “are called” skis “or” snowboards “”, continued the snowman. “Skis, as snow, have a long and incredible history. You must know that they were invented thousands years ago and that their inventors used them in the same way as we use them today. At the beginning they were not made to slide but especially not to travel on the fresh snow. They were used for the daily travels or to go hunting during the winter periods when the snow covered mounts and valleys. Before, skis looked like rackets !!!! As all useful things, they developed over time, changed form and became an important means of transportation by sliding.”

“Long, short, narrow or wide, wooden natural or coloured, skis are not anymore used in the same way as in the past. Today it is a machine of leisure. You will see, there is nothing more beautiful that to slide on the snow in the middle of a forest.”

” And the snowboard”?, asked Snowli The snowboard “, explained to Mister Long Nose with skill, “It`s a modern sport which was born to allow the young people to have fun. It is these madmen that are riding enormous waves in the sea which had the idea to adapt their surfing to slide on the snow. The big family of snow sports is constituted by ski, by snowboard, but also by cross-country skiing and telemark, which is the dad of the ski family. ” The snowman was a source of information and Snowli was the most curious being that ever landed on earth. Together they began to walk.

The story told by Mister Long Nose fascinated Snowli who listened to with attention. ” On the snow, you can slide, slow down, turn and also jump “, explained the snowman.

” Does that hurt the legs? ” Asked the impressed Snowli. ” Am I stupid? “, answered the snowman by smiling! ” I forgot to tell you that it is thanks to very special machines that it is possible to slide very fast, to realize incredible bends and to brake even in an improviste way. Sometimes, when there is a lot of fresh snow, we move with a lot of effort while when the snow is frozen we have to be transformed into a real  acrobate to maintain our balance. ”

” Mister Long Nose, describe these ” very special machines “to me…

” Snowli, you made a very long trip to arrive here on Earth. Well, the snow also has to make a long and difficult trip before falling to the ground! The snow is not an ice-cold rain. Soft white flakes form inside clouds. Clouds are like a factory of small crystals. These small crystals are united to form snowflakes. During their fall towards the ground, these flakes  melt and collapse into rain drops., when it is warm , but in winter it is cold and that’s why the flakes which fall stay snow. ” Snowli couldn`t belive that things so fantastic took place on earth. He listened carefully to the snowman who told him: ” by falling, flakes are transported by the wind. Sometimes, they can find themselves in wet air and in less cold or very cold temperatures. These various conditions modify the flakes which take fantastic forms. There are flakes in a  star, in a column, in a needle, in a triangle or in a rectangle. There are thousands and thousands of different forms and nobody knows if it already fell two identical flakes on the earth! ”

“Do you Know what is the most attractive form of flake, asked the snowman?” “No”, answered quite sheepish Snowli. “the Most attractive form is certainly the one of the star! It is a snowflake in 6 branches (hexagonal). When it will snow we would try to observe one falling. You will see, it is so skinny and fragile, that it does not seem real!”

” But why do different temperatures change the shape of flakes? ” Asked Snowli. ” When it is very cold “, resumed the snowman, ” the snow is dry and powdery because flakes cannot stick between them. When it is warmer, the snow melts and becomes wet. However, it is much easier to make a snowman as I with a little wet snow than with snow that is too dry! ”

Snowli, was more and more intrigued. He asked suddenly Mister Long Nose : ” How many snowflakes do you consist of? ” ” Ah! Ah! Ah! ” The snowman laughed. ” That is a very difficult question, Snowli! There are so many that it is impossible to count them! “

” But where am I ? ” Asked the young boy to a snowman which was there. ” You fell in the snow “, answered the snowman. ” Do you find it funny? ”  The snow! What strange word “snow”, What does it mean? ”

” Before I tell you, I would like to know who you are “, answered the buddy with the long carrot nose. ” My name is Snowli. ” ” Snowli, wah! That is an attractive name  “, answered the snowman, which continued by saying: ” you know that language which we speak on Earth” snow ” means snow and the village where you landed is called: “Swiss Snow Kids Village”

Quite amazed, Snowli made friends with this big white buddy and told him his adventures. So that he can discover space, the new planets and the new people, his parents had decided to give him  a magnificent travel. This is the way he was propelled into the universe and landed on our planet, Earth.

” So, Mister Long Nose, can you finally explain to me what is this white, cold thing on which I am standing? ” The Buddy moved close and began to tell him the fascinating story of the snow.
